Jewish heritage travellers and history-minded visitors can spend close to two hours on a 3.5 km walk from the Yeshua Tova Synagogue past the Choral Temple, the Jewish Museum and the Great Synagogue, solving observation puzzles at each stop on their own schedule. Couples, friends and solo walkers who enjoy reading old facades for clues will get the most from it. Anyone wanting a live guide to question, or an evening outing, should choose something else.

Is there a self-guided Jewish heritage tour of Bucharest?
Yes. This walk covers 11 stops on the city's Jewish heritage, including the Choral Temple, the Holy Union Temple with the Jewish Museum, the Great Synagogue and the Jerusalem Lion Square. Your phone leads the way, tells each place's story and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at the Yeshua Tova Synagogue and finishes at the Jewish Theatre, so it does not end where it began. The route is about 3.5 km, and most players take close to two hours, walking and puzzles included.
Can I play it on my own?
Yes. There is no group to join and no guide, so you can start whenever suits you and play alone at your own pace. If you are with others, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the same route.
Do I need to book a time, and can I pause?
No booking slot is needed; start any time and pause to continue later. We recommend playing in daylight rather than at night. No tickets to attractions are required to complete the route, since the puzzles are solved from what you can observe along the way.
What will I learn about the Bucharest Jewish community?
Along the route you learn about the community's way of life and the legacy it left in the city, from synagogues still standing to the place where the Malbim Synagogue once stood, a Jewish house on Covaci Street and the Jewish Theatre at the finish.
