The walk covers about 1.5 km of old streets in around 90 minutes and is free to play. Is there a self-guided treasure hunt in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter?
Yes. This one runs on your phone and leads you from Plaça Nova through Carrer del Bisbe, the Cathedral Cloister, Plaça del Rei, the Roman Temple, Plaça Sant Jaume, El Call and Plaça Reial. At each place the app tells its story and sets a riddle to solve on the spot.
Where does the hunt start and finish?
It starts at Plaça Nova, next to the cathedral area, and finishes at Casa Bruno Cuadros, known as the Dragon House. It does not loop back to the start, so you end up at a different spot from where you began, about 1.5 km of walking later.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
The quest is free to play, so friends and family can each join on their phones or share one. There is no group to join and no guide to meet, so you do not need to book a slot. Start whenever suits you.
How long does it take, and can we take a break?
Most players take around 90 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles. You can pause at any point, stop for a snack or a rest, and continue later from where you left off. The whole route is outdoors, so plan around the weather.
