Is this a Greenwich Village ghost tour I can do without a guide?
Yes. It is a self-guided ghost walk played on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the haunted history of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you, building toward the mystery of a red-headed ghost. It is best played at night.
Where does the ghost walk start and finish?
It starts at St. Marks Church-In-The-Bowery and finishes at Employees Only, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass McSorley's Old Ale House, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, Washington Square Arch, Gay St, the Cherry Lane Theatre and more, covering about 4.2 km.
How long does the haunted tour take?
Most players take a little over two hours, walking and puzzles included. There is no set pace, and you can pause the game and continue later if you want to stop for a drink or break it up.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no time slot to book and no group to join: you start whenever you like, and the evening is the best time for the atmosphere.
Do we go inside the haunted buildings?
No. Entering the places is not part of the experience; the story and the puzzles are all solved from the street. After dark you may want your phone flashlight to spot some of the clues.
