Is there a Wizard of Oz game or experience in Denver?
Yes. This outdoor puzzle game tells a new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's original 1900 Oz novel. You team up with a band of misfits, crack puzzles to outsmart the witch, and hear original Oz-themed songs written for the game, which you can also play back at home.
How do we get tickets, and does each player need one?
The game is played in the Questo app on a phone. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or family can share a single phone as the team follows the clues. There is no fixed time slot to book.
Where does it start and finish?
It starts at the plaza on the corner of E 3rd Ave and Milwaukee St, across the street from the Denver Public Library Ross-Cherry Creek Branch. The route is a loop, so you finish back at the same plaza after stops such as the Tower of Man Sculpture and Masters Gallery Denver.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take about 100 minutes, puzzles and walking included. The loop covers around 2.1 km through Cherry Creek, so it suits a relaxed afternoon or early evening out. You can pause along the way and continue later if you need a break.
How is this different from a regular escape room?
You get the same team puzzle-solving, but outdoors on real Denver streets instead of a locked room. You start whenever you like, with no booking slot, and the app leads you from place to place, setting each puzzle in what is in front of you.
What makes this quest different from just wandering Cherry Creek?
Because you’re part of Oz. You’ll walk ~2.1 km around downtown, solve puzzles tied to the Oz story, hear original songs, and notice spots you’ve passed before but never saw in this way. It turns Cherry Creek into a fairy-tale trail.
