Is there a Marconi museum or trail in Chelmsford?
This quest is an outdoor walking trail rather than a museum. It links Marconi sites around the city, including the First Wireless Factory in the World, the New Street Factory and the Marconi Statue. Along the way you play a reporter researching the story of the man and his wireless technology.
Is this played on a smartphone app?
Yes. You play on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, and you can pause and continue later.
Does the route pass the Regent Theatre and the Stone Bridge?
Yes. The Regent Theatre is the second stop, right after the First Wireless Factory in the World, and the Stone Bridge comes next. The route then continues to the Chelmsford City Sign and Shire Hall.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at the First Wireless Factory in the World and finishes at Central Park, so it does not return to the start. The walk covers about 2.5 km, and most players take around 90 minutes including puzzles. It is best played in daylight, as we recommend not playing at night.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no set time slot to book: start whenever suits you and go at your own pace, pausing if you want a break and picking up again later.
