Friends, couples after a date idea, families and Oz fans who want an escape room in the open air will enjoy it. If you want a locked indoor room with staff on hand, book that instead.

What is the Oz experience in Charlotte?
It is an outdoor, escape-room-style game played on your phone. A new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's original 1900 Oz novel sends you through Charlotte with a team of misfits, trying to outsmart the witch by solving puzzles at each location. Original Oz-themed songs made for the game play in the app.
Is this an Oz escape room?
It works like an escape room, but outdoors. Instead of a locked indoor room, you follow clues from place to place on the street and crack puzzles built around what is in front of you. You can play with friends or tackle the witch's challenges solo against the leaderboard.
Where does it start?
The game starts at 1 Charlotte Convention Center. From there the app leads you on a route of about 2 km past stops such as Il Grande Disco, the Books Monument, 301 South College Urban Park and The Firebird by Niki de Sainte-Phalle.
Can we play it today, or do we need to book a time?
There is no time slot to book. You can start whenever suits you, with no guide or group to meet. Plan on around 90 minutes, and if you need a break you can pause the game and continue later from where you stopped.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, so friends, couples and families can work through the puzzles together. If you prefer to play alone, you can take on the witch's challenges solo and compare your result on the leaderboard.
