Come and explore San Diego's Liberty Station, which was once known as “the cradle of the Navy”. Over 2 million men and women trained here when, from 1923 to 1997, it served as a Naval Training Center (NTC). Today, it is home to a beautiful Arts District located in the historic buildings that once housed, fed, and trained sailors.
Solve clues and check out modern museums, a food hall and a brewery, performing arts groups, and public art. All while discovering how young men — and eventually women — went from civilian to sailor.

Starting and ending at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center, this 3.3 km loop passes the WAVES Barracks, the USS Brave and the North Chapel on the old Naval Training Center grounds. Is there a self-guided walking tour of Liberty Station?
Yes. This quest is a self-guided walk of about 3.3 km through the former Naval Training Center, now an arts district. Your phone leads you to stops such as Barracks 17, the WAVES Barracks, USS Brave, North Chapel and the Boats Memorial, tells each place's story and sets a clue to solve.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center and loops back to the same spot at the end. Along the way you pass the Base Entrance, Building One, the Golf Course ClubHouse, THE LOT Theater and Luce Auditorium, and Ingram Plaza.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Plan on about 80 minutes to walk the 3.3 km route and solve the clues, longer if you stop at the museums, food hall or brewery nearby. You can pause the quest at any point and continue later from where you left off.
Do we need to book a time, and can our group play together?
No booking slot is needed: start whenever you like, with no guide and no other group to join. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest, so friends or family can follow the route and solve clues together.
Is the quest outdoors?
Yes, the route is a walk between the historic buildings, murals and memorials of the old base, so most of the time is spent outside. On a rainy or very hot day, dress for the weather or pause and finish the rest later.
