Bella, a famous travel blogger, was found dead during a ghost tour led by the theatrical Percy Shadows. Now, it’s up to you to uncover the truth.
Was it Walter, the obsessed boyfriend? Percy, the ghost tour guide with a flair for the dramatic? Or is someone else hiding in the shadows?

Is there a murder mystery game I can play in Nanaimo?
Yes. This is a self-guided outdoor murder mystery through downtown Nanaimo, played on your phone. Travel blogger Bella Wanderlust has been found dead during a ghost tour, and you gather clues at each stop to work out whether her boyfriend Walter, guide Percy Shadows or someone else did it. Start whenever you like.
How is this different from an escape room?
Instead of a locked indoor room, you solve puzzles outdoors using what is in front of you at 12 stops around the harbourfront and downtown. There is no time slot and no staff. The app leads you from place to place, tells the story, and lets you pause and continue later.
Where does the route start and finish?
You start at the Port Theatre on the Diana Krall Plaza side, near the library, and finish at the Vancouver Island Regional Library plaza, so you end up close to where you began. Along the way you pass the Harbourfront Walkway, Anchor Way Park, Commercial Street and Wesley Square.
How long does it take, and can we play as a group?
Most players take around 90 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over a route of about 2.1 km. You can play together as a couple, with friends or with family, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no need to book a time.
Is it suitable for children?
The story centres on a death and asks players to question suspects and weigh up clues, so it suits teens and older children who enjoy puzzles. Younger kids may find the murder plot and around 90 minutes of walking and thinking too much.
