A storm has wrecked your boat, your treasure is gone, and your best mate has vanished into the mist. 

You’ve washed ashore in Port Credit, but this isn't the town you know. Here, the animals whisper warnings of the evil that has inflitrated their land. 

You are a castaway in a world of talking squirrels, jewel-dripping mermaids, and rum-soaked pirates. To save your friend, you must navigate the gaslit docks and eerie lagoons of the "Lake of Shining Waters" before the shadows claim you both.

Families with children of about 6 to 12 who love pirates, mermaids and talking animals spend around two hours walking 2.6 km through Port Credit, past the lighthouse and pier, solving puzzles to rescue a lost friend. Local couples and friends get a playful lakeside outing too. If you want real local history from a guide, or have toddlers who tire quickly, pick something else.

One option is this free, self-guided puzzle walk by the lake. Your phone leads you through a pirate and mermaid story, with stops such as Shipwreck Lookout, Mermaid Lagoon, Beneath the Lighthouse and Walk the Pier. At each place you hear the story and solve a puzzle in what is in front of you.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It begins at the Starting Point and finishes at The Pirate's Lair, so it does not end where it began. In between are 12 stops in walking order, including Under the Bridge, Circle Square, The Magic Door and The Mage's Cottage, covering about 2.6 km.
How long does it take?
Most players take about two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles along the 2.6 km route. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it is easy to stop for a snack or a break by the water.
Is it good for kids?
The story of talking squirrels, jewel-dripping mermaids and rum-soaked pirates is aimed at families with children of roughly 6 to 12. They should be happy to walk around 2.6 km over about two hours, with an adult helping read the clues.
