Where is St. Stephen's Cathedral, and does the walk start there?
Yes. St. Stephen's Cathedral stands in the Innere Stadt, Vienna's old centre, and it is where the quest begins. From there the route leads to the Mozart apartment, the Franziskaner Convent and Café Frauenhuber before heading on toward the State Opera.
Where does the route finish?
It does not return to the start. After the Hofburg Silver Collection, Zu den fünf Morden, the Beethoven Pasqualatihaus, the Sigmund Freud bust and Beethoven's House, the walk ends at the Sigmund Freud Museum.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take about 2.5 hours, including walking and solving the coded puzzles along the way. The route covers 4.1 km through central Vienna. You can pause whenever you like and continue later, so a coffee stop at Café Frauenhuber is easy to fit in.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. You follow the story and the puzzles on a phone, so friends or couples can share the screen, read the letters together and work out the codes as a team.
Do we need to book a time slot?
No. The quest is self-guided, so you start whenever suits you, with no group to join and no guide to meet. Open the app at St. Stephen's Cathedral and begin, then pause and pick up again later if you need a break.
