Over Európa Liget
Európa Liget (Europe Grove) is a small public green space in the first district of Budapest, in the Buda Castle area on the Buda side of the Danube. It is an easy stop on a walk around Castle Hill, where cobbled streets, old gates and city views lie within a few minutes of each other.
Tips for your visit
- Allow a short stop of 10 to 15 minutes if you are passing through, longer if you want to sit and rest between the sights of the Castle District.
- Morning or late afternoon is usually the calmest time on Castle Hill, with softer light for photos and fewer tour groups.
- It is an outdoor space in a public area, so you can normally walk in whenever you like. Check current conditions locally if you are planning around a specific visit.
- Wear comfortable shoes, as the streets around the castle are uneven and often steep.
See it on a quest
The quest Buda Castle District in Budapest: Time Travel Mystery passes this spot. You reach it on foot as one stop of a longer route through the district, the app tells you about each place as you arrive, and you solve a puzzle on the spot. It is a paid quest, and one ticket covers the whole group.
If you prefer a different angle on the same neighbourhood, try Secrets of Buda Castle, Will You Uncover the Lost Legacy?. Here too you walk between the stops at your own pace, hear about each place when you get there and solve a puzzle in front of you. It is a paid quest, and one ticket covers the whole group.
