Is there a self-guided, app-based game in Budapest?
Yes. This quest is played on your phone: the app leads you through 14 stops on the Buda side, from Gül Baba's tomb and the Király Baths to the Pasha Tomb and Buda Castle Tower Gate, telling the story of each place and setting a puzzle there. There is no guide and no group to join.
Where does the quest start and how long does it take?
It starts at the Turkish cemetery and loops back there at the end. The route is about 5.3 km and takes around two hours. Allow extra time if you stop at places like Ruszwurm Confectionery or the café on the way.
Is it good for kids?
It is recommended for families. Children who enjoy solving puzzles and can comfortably walk about 5 km over roughly two hours will get the most out of it. The story covers the Ottoman era through tombs, baths and castle walls, told through clues rather than a lecture.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices included. There is no time slot to book: start whenever you like, and you can pause the quest and continue later from where you stopped.
Is the quest outdoors, and what if it rains?
It is a walk through streets, parks and the Castle District, so expect to spend most of the time outside and dress for the weather. Because you can pause at any point, you can wait out a shower and carry on when it clears.
