Visitors curious about faith, architecture and Sibiu's many communities will enjoy this easy 2.5 km walk past Lutheran, Catholic, Reformed and Orthodox churches and the Great Synagogue, with a puzzle at each stop. Families with school-age children and festival-goers fit right in, and it is free to play. Anyone wanting a live guide to explain the rituals, or an indoor outing, should pick something else.

Is this quest linked to the Ars Sacra Festival?
Yes. The route was designed by the Ars Sacra Festival. It leads you through sacred spaces of different faiths and ethnic traditions in Sibiu, from the Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral to the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral and the Great Synagogue, telling the story of each place as you go.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral and finishes at Astra County Library, Building B. In between you pass the Church of the Ursulines, the Great Synagogue, the Franciscan Church, the Former Jesuit Monastery, Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Kalvin Reformed Church, the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral and Saint John Lutheran Church.
How long does it take, and do we need to book?
Most players take around 100 minutes, a little under two hours, for the 2.5 km route, walking and puzzles included. There is no time slot to book and you can pause and continue later. It is free to play, so your whole group can join in.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. It is rated easy and tagged family friendly, so school-age children can follow the stories and help with the puzzles. The walk covers 2.5 km over about 100 minutes, which may feel long for very young children. Keep voices low inside the churches and the synagogue.
When is the best time to play?
The route is open around the clock, but daylight is better for seeing the buildings and their details. If you arrive during a sermon, enter only if you wish to celebrate with the community, and remain silent until it is complete.
