Families and couples heading to the Ellwood Mesa monarch grove can turn the visit into a short trail game, walking about 3.1 km from the butterfly trees to bluff-top views of the Channel Islands and down to the beach. Puzzles are set in the landscape along the way. The trails have uneven ground and changes in elevation with little shade, so anyone with limited mobility should choose a flatter route.
