Where does the Mainz Gutenberg quest start and finish?
It starts at the Gautor and finishes at the Fischtor, so it does not return to where you began. On the way you pass St. Stephan's Church, the equestrian statue of St. Martin, the carnival fountain, the Gutenberg monument, Mainz Cathedral, the Market fountain, the Nail column and the Memorial of German unity.
How long does it take?
Most players take around 90 minutes, including the walking and the puzzles. The route covers about 1.7 km through the old town. You can pause at any point and continue later, so there is time for a coffee or a longer look inside the Cathedral.
Is it a good fit for children?
Yes, it is family friendly and works best for school-age children who can read clues and spot details in the buildings and fountains around them. The story of young Gutenberg searching for a lost relic gives them a reason to keep walking. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together on one phone. There is no group to join and no guide to meet, so you do not book a time slot. Start at the Gautor whenever suits you and play at your own pace.
