Do I need a map of Lagos old town to play?
No. The app leads you from place to place through the old town, so you can follow it on your phone. The 2.3 km route runs past churches, Fonte das Oito Bicas, Praça Infante D. Henrique and Forte Ponta da Bandeira, and piecing together a shattered map is part of the story.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Praça Gil Eanes and finishes at Gil Eannes. It is not a loop, so you end up somewhere different from where you began. Along the way it takes in the science centre, the Church of St. Sebastian, Padaria Central, the Church of Saint Anthony and S. Gonçalo de Lagos.
How does Gil Eanes feature in the story?
You play descendants of Gil Eanes' crew, following a secret left by a 15th-century navigator through Lagos. The route begins at the square named after him, and you decipher ciphers to find the coordinates of the Lost Island before a dangerous cult gets there first.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 1.5 to 2 hours, including walking and solving puzzles, over a distance of about 2.3 km. There is no set time to book: start whenever you like, and you can pause and carry on later if you want a break.
Is it good for kids, and can we play as a group?
It suits older children and teens who enjoy mysteries, ciphers and treasure-hunt games; younger children may find the puzzles hard. It is free to play, so friends and families can head out together without any group to join or guide to meet.
