It loops for about 3.8 km from the old Pathe studio site past Havens' last home, Riverview Park and a run of murals, with Walter Parks and neighbours telling the stories over around 90 minutes. Where does the Jersey City Heights walk start and finish?
It starts at the Pathe Movie Studio Site and finishes back there, so you end where you began. In between you pass the site of the Grand View Hall, the original Kaleidoscope Studio, Richie Havens' last home, Riverview Park, The Statuary and several murals.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Allow around an hour and a half to cover about 3.8 km. The time depends on how long you linger at the murals and in Riverview Park. Make sure your phone is fully charged or bring a power bank, since the app guides you the whole way.
Can we play as a group on one ticket?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest. Everyone follows the same route together, hears the stories from Walter Parks and the community, and works on the puzzles set at each stop.
Do we need to book a start time, and can we pause?
There is no time slot to book and no group to meet. Start whenever suits you at the Pathe Movie Studio Site, pause if you want a break, and continue later from where you stopped.
Is it a good walk for a rainy day?
It is mostly an outdoor walk through the streets of the Heights and Riverview Park, with public art, murals and historic sites viewed from outside. On a wet day you may prefer to wait for better weather, which is easy since there is no set start time.
