Is the love escape game played on an app?
Yes. You play on your phone: the app leads you from place to place along the route, tells the story of each spot and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you can start whenever you like.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Dean Bridge House and finishes at Saint Stephen's Comely Bank Church, so it does not end where it began. On the way you pass Bell's Brae Bridge, Well Court, St. Bernard's Well, Circus Lane, Stockbridge Market Arch, The Stock Bridge, Inverleith Park and the Sundial Garden.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Most players take around two hours, walking and puzzles included, over about 3.9 km along the Water of Leith and through Stockbridge. You can pause the game and continue later, so there is room for a coffee or a browse in Stockbridge along the way.
Can we play together on one ticket?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together. The story and puzzles are written with couples in mind, so it works best as a shared date, with both of you reading the clues and looking for answers around each stop.
Do we need to book a time or go inside any of the places?
No time slot is needed: you start whenever suits you. The stops are seen from outside and entering them is not part of the game, so the whole route is outdoors. If rain is forecast, dress for the weather or pause and finish another day.
