In this adventure, you are Antonius, a Roman diplomat visiting the city of Camulodunum (Colchester) at the request of the local governor, Marcus. While Marcus is eager to show off the city’s fortifications and cultural landmarks, he has a more urgent matter to address—a plot to assassinate him.
The clues to this conspiracy are hidden across the city, and it's up to you to uncover the mystery before time runs out. Perfect for history lovers, adventurers, and puzzle enthusiasts, this self-guided tour combines historical exploration with thrilling intrigue.

Is this a guided walking tour of Colchester?
It is self-guided and played on your phone. The app leads you from place to place along the Roman wall and gates, tells the story of each spot and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you walk at your own pace.

The route takes in Colchester Castle, the Berryfield Mosaic at Firstsite, the East Gate, Duncan's Gate, the Roman Town Houses, the Roman Theatre, the North Gate, the Balkerne Gate and the Roman Church and Mithraeum, passing through back lanes and Castle Park before returning to the Roman Circus.
Where does it start and finish?
You start at Butt Road Car Park by the Roman Circus. The walk is a loop of about 3.5 km, so you finish back at the same spot, which is handy if you arrived by car or want to return to where you began.
