Starting and ending at the Vasil Levski Monument, this 2.9 km loop passes the Bolyarska Underground Church, the Kurtpashova and Meshchiite towers and the Saint Sophronius Museum Complex, tracing Vratsa's fight against Ottoman rule. Does the walk pass the Freedom Monument in Vratsa?
Yes. The Herald of Freedom Monument is the first stop after you set off from the Vasil Levski Monument. From there the route continues to the Steps to Freedom, Kurtpashova and Meshchiite towers, Ascension Church and the St. Sophronius sites.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Vasil Levski Monument and finishes back at the same spot, so it works as a loop. Along the way you visit Bolyarska Underground Church, the Saint Sophronius Museum Complex and the House-Museum Nikola Voyvodov, among other stops.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Plan on about an hour of walking for a route of 2.9 km through the town centre. You can pause at any point and continue later, so a coffee break or a longer look at one of the towers will not cost you your progress.
Do we need to book a time, and can a group play together?
There is no time slot to book and no guide to wait for. You start whenever you like from your phone, and one ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest.
Is it worth doing in the rain?
The walk is outdoors, moving between monuments, towers and churches across 2.9 km, so wet weather will affect it. Because you can pause and pick up where you left off, you can start on a dry spell and finish later the same day or another day.
