This 2.4 km loop starts and ends at the Cenotaph on Martin Place, passing Il Porcellino, Chifley Square and St James Square with puzzles drawn from Baum's 1900 Oz novel. Adult friends wanting an escape room outing, or a solo puzzler chasing the leaderboard, get around 90 minutes of clue-solving across the CBD. Anyone wanting a dry indoor room with a host to drop hints should pick something else.

Are there any extra costs once we have the quest?
You pay once for the game, and one ticket covers your whole group rather than charging per person. The route runs through public streets, squares, fountains and statues in the city centre, so none of the stops needs its own entry ticket.
Where does the Oz escape game in Sydney start and finish?
It starts in front of the Cenotaph on Martin Place and loops back to the same spot. On the way you pass places such as the Lloyd Rees Fountain, St James Square, Chifley Square and the Governor Sir Richard Bourke statue, covering about 2.4 km.
How long does it take, and do we need to book a time slot?
Plan on around 90 minutes, depending on how quickly you crack the puzzles. There is no booking slot: start whenever suits you, and if you need a break you can pause the game and carry on later from where you stopped.
Is it suitable for children?
It works best for older children and teens who enjoy escape-room-style puzzles and can walk about 2.4 km through the city. Younger kids can join in but will likely need adults to help with the clues and the story inspired by the original Oz novel.
Is the game played outdoors, and what if it rains?
Yes, it is played entirely outdoors in the streets and squares around Martin Place, using your phone to follow clues between locations. In wet weather, bring a raincoat or umbrella, or simply pause the game and finish it on a drier day.
