Parents and grandparents with primary-school children will enjoy this easy 2.5 km scavenger hunt through the Royal Botanic Garden. Clues lead to the Satyr and Cupid sculptures, the Lotus Pond and the Wishing Tree in about an hour and 40 minutes. Grown-ups after history should look elsewhere, as this hunt tells no stories about the places, and toddlers may tire on the sunny loop.

Can we do it with the kids this weekend or today?
Yes. You start whenever you like and do not need to book a time. The Royal Botanic Garden is open daily from 7am to sunset with no entry fee. Allow about an hour and 40 minutes so you finish comfortably before sunset.
Where does the scavenger hunt start and finish?
It starts at Morshead Fountain, opposite the State Library, and loops back to the same fountain. On the way you pass the Parade Ground, the Succulent Garden, the Sydney Fernery, Farm Cove, the Twin Ponds and the Four Seasons Stairs, covering about 2.5 km.
Can the whole family play together, and can we take a break?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so everyone can play side by side. You can pause at any point, rest or have a snack, and pick up the hunt again later from where you stopped.
Is it all outdoors, and what should we bring?
The whole route is outdoors in the garden, so bring hats, sunscreen and enough water for everyone, especially on warm days. If the weather turns, you can pause the hunt and come back to finish it another time.
