Is this Oz escape game a scheduled event, or can we play any time?
It is not a scheduled event. There are no set session times and no time slot to book. You start whenever suits you, play on your phone without a guide, and can pause and continue later if you need a break along the way.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The game starts at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and covers about 2.3 km across 11 stops, including Clapp Hall, the Forbes Field Outfield Wall and the Mary Schenley Memorial Fountain. Allow around 90 minutes, depending on how quickly your team solves the puzzles.
Is this a self-guided walking tour of Pittsburgh?
Yes, in the form of a game. The app leads you from place to place, tells the story of each spot and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. The storyline follows a team of misfits trying to outsmart the witch, with original Oz-themed songs in the app.
Can we play as a group, or does everyone need a ticket?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends or a family can solve the puzzles together. You can also play solo and measure yourself against the leaderboard.
Is it suitable for kids, and what if it rains?
Families with children are among the players, and kids who enjoy riddles and can walk about 2.3 km will get the most from it, as the puzzles are cracked as a team. The whole route is outdoors, so dress for the weather or pause and finish another time.
