Acerca de Opéra de Nice

From a wooden theater in 1776 to the grand Opéra that stands today, Nice's performing arts venue has burned down and risen again with theatrical flair. A gas explosion in 1881 during Lucia di Lammermoor killed over 200 people, destroying the building completely. In 1885, architects including Charles Garnier (who designed the famous Palais Garnier in Paris) created a new opera house. Its Italian-style interior features intimate box seating that creates the feeling of multiple rooms opening into a grand hall. The ceiling fresco depicts the Chariot of the Sun; a magnificent chandelier with 600 bulbs illuminates the spectacle. With Questo, you can explore how tragedy shaped beauty.
