Is there a mystery game you can play while walking around New Orleans?
Yes. This is a self-guided walking mystery played on your phone. A dream about the city's music sets the story going, and you follow clues and solve puzzles at each place, moving between past and present across 13 stops linked to New Orleans music.
Does the route include Preservation Hall?
Yes. Preservation Hall is the fifth stop, reached after Pat O'Briens and followed by Maison Bourbon. As at every stop, the app tells you the story of the place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Cosimo Matassa's J&M Recording Studios and finishes at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, so it does not return to the start. On the way you pass Armstrong Park, Congo Square, Preservation Hall, the New Orleans Legends Musical Park and Jackson Square, among other stops.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take a little over two hours, around 130 minutes including walking and puzzles. The route covers about 2.7 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so there is no need to finish in one go.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book and no group to join; start whenever you like. The route is open 24/7 but is better in daylight hours. One ticket covers the whole group playing together.
