Couples, friends and small groups who like a spooky legend and a good puzzle will enjoy following missing Luigi's trail past 12 stops, from Porta al Prato to the Fortezza Medicea, the De Ricci Wine Cellar and Piazza Grande, the square that stood in for Volterra on screen. Allow about two hours for 2.1 km on foot. If you want a proper wine tasting or a live guide to question, pick something else.

Yes. Your friend Luigi has vanished while chasing a dark secret beneath the town, and locals whisper of ancient vampires in the caves and cellars below. You follow the trail he left, solve cryptic puzzles and explore the old town's twisting streets and underground passages, including the De Ricci Wine Cellar.
Does the route pass the square from the vampire film?
Yes. Piazza Grande, which stood in for Volterra on screen, is one of the stops. This is an original mystery set around the town's own vampire legend rather than a film locations tour, but the square is part of the trail alongside the Palazzo Comunale and the Fortezza Medicea.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The quest starts and finishes at Porta al Prato, so you end where you began. The walk covers about 2.1 km through 12 stops, including the Tempio di San Biagio and the San Francesco Viewpoint, and takes around two hours at a relaxed pace with time for the puzzles.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, and everyone plays together on their phones. There is no set start time, guide or group to join, so you can begin whenever suits you and pause to continue later, for example after a stop at a wine shop.
