Is this like an escape room in Westminster?
It is played outdoors rather than in a room. The app leads you on foot from place to place, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. Along the way you learn to find the clues to a code, much like an escape game spread across Westminster.
What is the Enigma code-breaking walk in London?
It is a self-guided walk played on your phone, with no guide and no group to join. It covers Westminster Cathedral, Methodist Hall, the Supreme Court, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Canada House and Trafalgar Square, mixing history, religion, humour, rumours and facts as you work towards cracking a code.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
The walk starts at Victoria tube station and finishes at Leicester Square, so it does not return to the start. It covers about 3.7 km, and most players take around two and a quarter hours including walking and solving the puzzles.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no time slot to book: you start whenever you like from Victoria tube station. No attraction tickets are needed for any of the stops.
What if it rains or gets cold, can we pause?
The walk is outdoors, but you can pause the game at any point and continue later. If the weather turns cold, you can stop and go inside to warm up at almost any location on the route, then pick up where you left off.
