Set in one of the most haunted cities in the United States, this game will take you through downtown Houston and its theatre district, widely known as a nexus of the supernatural.
Be prepared to hear about the places where Houstonians spend most of their time, including the ghosts that lurk around because you are certain to run into one or two poltergeists. Most of them friendly; some, not so much!
So settle in, get cozy – but not too much – you’re in for a ghostly ride.

Ghost-story fans, couples and friends after a spooky evening downtown will follow 11 stops from the Julia Ideson Building to Discovery Green, hearing the tales of the theatre district's restless spirits and solving puzzles, sometimes by phone flashlight. It takes around two and a half hours over 4.5 km and is best after dark. Anyone hoping to go inside the buildings or ask a live guide questions should choose something else.

Is this a haunted walking tour of Houston?
It is a self-guided ghost walk through downtown Houston and the theatre district, played on your phone. The app leads you between 11 stops, tells the ghost stories tied to each place and sets a puzzle at each one. It is best played at night, and you stay outside the buildings.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Julia Ideson Building and finishes at Discovery Green, so it does not end where it began. Along the way you pass Sam Houston Park, the Downtown Aquarium, the Alley Theatre, Market Square Park, La Carafe, the Rice Hotel and the Esperson, among other stops.
How long does it take?
Most players take around two and a half hours, walking and puzzles included, covering about 4.5 km. There is no rush, and you can pause the game and continue later if you want a break along the way.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no set time to book. Start whenever you like, though the stories work best after dark. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, and there is no guide or other group to meet.
Does the route go past the Downtown Aquarium?
Yes. The Downtown Aquarium is the third stop, after the Julia Ideson Building and Sam Houston Park and before Sesquicentennial Park. As with every stop, you take it in from outside, since going in is not part of the game.
