Begleite den Biber auf einer spannenden Entdeckungstour durch die Donauauen bei Günzburg. Auf einem teils festen teils unbefestigten Weg erkundest du Fluss, Wald und Auwiesen und erfährst, warum dieser Lebensraum so besonders ist. 

An mehreren Stationen lernst du Tiere, Pflanzen und die Rolle des Wassers kennen. Die Tour verbindet Wissen, Spiel und Naturerlebnis und richtet sich an Familien mit Kindern sowie neugierige Erwachsene.

Families with primary-school-age children and curious adults follow the beaver through the Danube floodplain towards Reisensburg, learning about animals, plants and floodwater at 14 stops by the river, the pond and the floodplain forest. Plan for close to three hours on a free-to-play route over partly unpaved paths. Toddlers, or anyone not up to 5.8 km on uneven ground, would do better with a shorter stroll.

Where does the floodplain trail start and finish?
It starts at the stop called Stadt trifft Aue, near Donaustraße 1 in Günzburg, and runs as a loop through the Danube floodplain. The final stop, the Auen-Entdecker-Finale, is at the Sportheim Reisensburg. Along the way you pass the Donauweiher pond, the floodplain forest and a view of the sand slopes.
How long does the walk take and how far is it?
Most players take close to three hours, including walking and the tasks at each stop. The route is 5.8 km, partly on firm paths and partly on unpaved ones. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank, since the app guides you the whole way.
Is this nature trail good for kids?
Yes, it is family friendly and aimed mainly at primary-school-age children. The difficulty is medium, and the tasks are about the animals, plants and water you see around you. Younger children may find the distance and the unpaved stretches tiring.
Can we do it when it rains or the Danube is high?
The whole route is outdoors along the river and through the floodplain forest, so dress for the weather. Do not attempt it when the river is high, as the floodplain paths are directly affected by rising water.
Do we need to book or pay to play?
No. It is free to play, and there is no time slot to book or group to join. Start whenever suits you, play at your own pace with your family or friends, and pause if you need a break, then continue later.
