The 1875 Dublin Whiskey Fire was a real-life tragedy in the Liberties, the heart of the city's brewing and distilling. The quest takes you into the late 19th century and tells that story place by place as you walk between distillery sites in Dublin's Golden Triangle.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the Guinness Storehouse and finishes at Love Lane / Crampton Court, towards the Temple Bar district. It is not a loop. On the way you pass Pearse Lyons, Roe & Co, The Dublin Liberties and Teeling distilleries, St Patrick's Park and St Werburgh's Church.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take a little over two hours, walking and puzzles included, to cover about 3.9 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so you can stop for a break in the Liberties and pick up the route again when you are ready.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is tagged family friendly and works well for school-age children who enjoy solving puzzles about what they can see around them. The puzzles are described as fun and challenging, and the walk is around 4 km, so very young children may tire before the end.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. There is no set time to book and no group to join: you start whenever you like from the Guinness Storehouse and go at your own pace, with no guide.
