Yes. There is no guide and no group to join. The app on your phone leads you from one haunted spot to the next, tells the ghost story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. You can start whenever you like.
Which haunted places in Belfast are on the route?
In walking order: Carnegie Oldpark, Crumlin Road Courthouse, Clifton Street Graveyard, Clifton House, Exchange St W, Dunbar St Parking, The Merchant Hotel, Joys Entry, Cornmarket and Queen's Bridge. You view each place from outside; going inside is not part of the game.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at Carnegie Oldpark and finishes at Queen's Bridge, so it is not a loop. The route covers about 3.3 km, and most players take around two hours including walking and puzzles. You can pause and pick up again later.
Can we do it at night?
Yes, it is best played after dark. Some clues may be easier to spot with your phone flashlight, so bring a charged phone. Since there is no set time slot, you choose the start time that suits you.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, which suits couples and small groups of friends solving the puzzles side by side. Everyone follows the same route and story, and there is no need to book a time in advance.
What’s the creepiest stop in this ghost walk?
Probably Crumlin Road Gaol. The old jail, with its stories of nooses and past inmates, gives off a heavy vibe. Also don’t miss Clifton Street Cemetery—walking among ancient graves by lantern-light is unforgettable.
