Yes. This is an escape-room-style game played outdoors on your phone in downtown McKinney. You follow clues to each location and crack puzzles set in what is around you, with stops such as the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library, Church Street Auditorium and Landon Winery.
Is this an Oz-themed game?
It is. The story is inspired by L. Frank Baum's original Oz novel from 1900, and you team up with a band of misfits to outsmart the witch. The app also includes original Oz-themed songs made for the game, which you can listen to again at home.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at the Collin County History Museum on E Virginia St and loops back to the museum at the end. The route covers about 2 km, and most players take just over an hour and a half, walking and puzzles included.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time slot?
You can play with friends, family or coworkers, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no booking slot: start whenever suits you, with no guide and no group to join. You can also pause and continue later.
Can I play solo?
Yes. You can tackle the witch's challenges on your own and see how you compare on the leaderboard. The app guides you from stop to stop through downtown McKinney, tells the story of each place and sets the puzzles, so no one else is needed.
