Families with children who can manage a 4.2 km walk, couples and day-trippers staying around Zeewolde will enjoy this story walk. A fisherman named Klaas leads you over the dike, along the sandy beach and pier and past art and waterfront homes, setting puzzles about the old Zuiderzee along the way. If two and a half hours on foot in the open, with little shade, sounds like too much, choose a shorter or indoor outing.

Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the stop called Meet Klaas and is a loop, so you finish at The Cow, back near where you began. Along the way you pass The Dike, The Sandy Beach, The Pier, a ferry stop, artworks, Sea Level, Groundwater, Waterfront Homes and The Wavy Homes.
How long does it take?
Most players take about two and a half hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 4.2 km. You can pause at any point and carry on later, so you can stop for a break by the beach or water without losing your progress.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is family friendly. Klaas tells the story of the lost sea and sets puzzles from the past at each stop, which suits school-age children who can walk around 4.2 km. Bring water, hats and sunscreen, as much of the route is open to the sun.
Do we need to book a time slot?
No. You start whenever you like, with no group to join and no guide to meet. The route is open around the clock, but it is better walked in daylight so you can see the dike, beach and the places the puzzles are built around.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. Make sure that phone is fully charged or bring a power bank, since the app guides you between all thirteen stops and tells the story at each one.
