Yes. In this self-guided game you play an errand boy for Al Capone, who is locked up on Alcatraz but still gets things done. You walk around Aquatic Park and Ghirardelli Square, hear the story of each place and solve puzzles set in what is in front of you.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Hyde St. Pier and is a loop, finishing at the SouthEnd and Dolphin Rowing Clubs. Along the way you pass The Cannery, the Buena Vista Cafe, the Hyde Street Cable Car, the Ayala Monument, Ghirardelli Square and the Mermaid Fountain, the Clocktower, the Maritime Museum and the Bocce Ball Courts.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take about 70 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over a route of 1.4 km. You can start whenever you like and pause the game, then continue later from where you stopped, so a coffee break along the way is easy.
Is it suitable for kids?
Older kids tend to enjoy the gangster story and the puzzles. Children under 12 should be guided by their parents while playing. You never need to go inside any of the places on the route, since the puzzles are all solved from outside.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no time slot to book and no group to join: you start on your phone whenever you are ready, and the app leads you from stop to stop.
