In walking order: Tavern on the Green, the Carousel, Wollman Rink, Gapstow Bridge, The Mall, Naumburg Bandshell, Bethesda Fountain, Cherry Hill, Bow Bridge and Loeb Boathouse. At each one the app tells you about the films and shows shot there and sets a puzzle in what you see.
Is Central Park a good choice for visitors who love movies?
Yes. Central Park is described as the most filmed location in the world, and this walk is built around the landmarks that have appeared on both the big and small screens, with fun facts about the productions filmed inside the park along the way.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Tavern on the Green and finishes at Loeb Boathouse, so it is a one-way route through the heart of the park rather than a loop. Plan your onward travel from the Boathouse once you reach the last stop.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around three and a half hours for the 7 km route, including walking and puzzles. It is best played during the day, and you can pause at any point and continue later, so breaks for food or rest are easy.
Is it good for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is tagged kid friendly, and school-age children who can manage a 7 km walk tend to enjoy the clue-solving. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, and there is no set time to book: start whenever you are ready.
