Where does the Upper West Side walk start and finish?
It starts on Central Park West and finishes at The Dakota, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass Lincoln Center, Verdi Square, The Ansonia, The Apthorp, Theodore Roosevelt Park, the Museum of Natural History, the New York Historical Society and The San Remo.
How long does it take and how far do you walk?
Most players take about two and a half hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers 4.7 km through the Upper West Side, and since you set the pace you can take longer if you linger at the buildings or stop for a break.
Is it good for kids?
It is recommended as a family activity and is best played during the day. It suits children who can manage a 4.7 km walk and enjoy spotting details on buildings, squares and fountains to solve puzzles, with an adult helping on the film and music history.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a family can follow the route on one phone, share the stories at each stop and work out the puzzles as a team.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking of a time slot is needed. You start whenever you like, there is no group to join and no guide to wait for, and you can pause the quest, for a meal or a museum visit, then continue later from where you stopped.
