Is this a murder mystery dinner show in New Orleans?
No. There are no actors and no set seating. It is a self-guided outdoor game on your phone: you walk about 2 km between 12 stops, gather clues and question suspects yourself. Several stops are bars and restaurants, such as Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar, and you can pause and continue later.
How is it different from an escape room?
Instead of a locked room, you solve puzzles set in the real places in front of you, from the Cabildo to the Old Ursuline Convent Museum. You play outdoors at a time you choose, the app tells the story of each stop, and the whole investigation takes around 90 minutes.
Where does the game start?
It starts at The Cabildo. From there the route takes in places such as Jackson Square, the Joan of Arc statue, the Presbytère, the Old Ursuline Convent Museum, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar and the New Orleans Vampire Cafe, 12 stops in all over about 2 km.
Is it suitable for kids?
It works best for teens and older children who enjoy working out puzzles and following clues. The story centres on a murder during a ghost tour, and several stops are bars, so families with younger children may prefer a different walk.
