Sherlock Holmes and Conan Doyle fans, couples and families with puzzle-loving children get a detective story set in 1901, walked through Marylebone from the BBC and the Langham Hotel past Harley Street to the Baker Street statue and museum. It takes around 90 minutes over 2.4 km. If you want a live guide to question, or an indoor plan for a wet day, choose something else.

Is there a Sherlock Holmes walking tour in London I can do on my own?
Yes. This is a self-guided walk played on your phone through Marylebone and Baker Street. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you start whenever suits you.
Can we play as a private group on one ticket?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends, couples or a family share the same game without joining strangers. You set your own pace, start at any time and solve the clues among yourselves, with no guide leading the way.
Where does the Sherlock Holmes walk start and finish?
It starts at the BBC building and finishes at The Sherlock Holmes Museum. On the way you pass the Langham Hotel, Watson's address on Queen Anne Street, Harley Street, Chiltern Street, Sherlock Mews, the Sherlock Holmes Statue and Baker Street tube station. It does not return to the start.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around 90 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over about 2.4 km. You can pause at any point, stop for a coffee in Marylebone and continue later from where you left off. It is best played during the day.
Is it good for kids?
It is recommended as a family activity, and children who enjoy solving clues tend to get the most from it. The story follows a clairvoyant detective searching for vanished figures, including Conan Doyle, with a light touch of the supernatural. Expect around 90 minutes on foot outdoors, so plan for younger children's energy.
