Frank Baum's 1900 Oz novel over 2 km of Waikiki, from the Princess Kaʻiulani Shrine to the Hilton Waikiki. Puzzle fans can also play solo for the leaderboard. How does this outdoor escape room in Honolulu work?
You play on your phone. The app leads you from place to place, tells the story of each spot and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no booking slot, so you start whenever you like, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together.
Where does it start and finish?
It starts at the Princess Kaʻiulani Shrine and finishes at the Hilton Waikiki, so it does not end where it began. Along the roughly 2 km route you pass stops such as the Travel Desk at the Moana Surfrider, the Duke Paoa Kahanamoku Statue and St. Augustine by the Sea.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around an hour and a half to two hours, walking and puzzles included. You do not have to finish in one go: you can pause the game and continue later, which helps if you want to stop for food or a break along Waikiki.
