Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Jopenkerk in Haarlem and finishes at Laurens Janszoon Coster, so it is not a loop. In between you pass 12 more stops, including the Nieuwe Kerk, the Proveniershof, Teylers Museum and the Bakenesserkerk.
Is there an app for a self-guided city walk in Haarlem?
Yes. This walk is played on your phone: the app leads you from stop to stop through the old centre, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. Start any time, with no guide or group to join.
Does the route pass the Nieuwe Kerk?
Yes, the Nieuwe Kerk is the third stop, after the Jopenkerk and van der Pigge. From there the route continues to the Proveniershof and the Gasthuisjes, part of the story of how wealthy residents created housing for the less fortunate.
How long does it take, and do we need to book a time?
Most players take a little over two hours, about 135 minutes including walking and puzzles, on a 3.8 km route. There is no time slot to book: start whenever you like, and pause and continue later if you need a break.
Can we play as a group, and when is the best time to go?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends, couples or families can solve the puzzles side by side. Plan it for daytime, as playing at night is not recommended for this route through small streets and courtyards.
