Rowling’s golden handprints to Waverley Station, solving easy puzzles along the way in a little over an hour. Anyone who wants a live guide to quiz about the books, or has toddlers too young for the puzzles, should pick something else.

Yes, it is free to play. You walk around 1.6 km through the Old Town toward Waverley Station at your own pace, guided by the app. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank, since the app runs the whole route.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at George Heriot’s School on Lauriston Place and finishes at Edinburgh Waverley Station, not back at the start. In between you visit Greyfriars Kirkyard, The Elephant House on George IV Bridge, Victoria Street and J.K. Rowling’s golden handprints at the City Chambers on the High Street.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
