The year is 1644. The last Ming emperor has fallen. A catastrophic rupture in time and space has shattered the cosmic order of the Middle Kingdom. And China has never fully recovered.

Seven ancient celestial forces, once perfectly aligned along Beijing's sacred Central Axis, have been scattered. Only by restoring them to their ideal order can balance be returned to the country.

Journey through centuries of imperial history, along one of the world's most extraordinary urban landscapes.

Is there a map of the Beijing Central Axis route to follow?
The app leads you from place to place in walking order. You start at Jingshan Park South Gate, climb Jingshan Park Hill, cross through Beihai Park past the Boat Hall and Jingxin House, follow the waterside, temple and bridges, then finish at Gulou and Zhonglou. The whole route is about 4.3 km.
How long does it take, and what time should we start?
Most players take about two and a half hours, walking and puzzles included. The last part of the game might not be available after 4PM, so start early enough to reach Gulou and Zhonglou before then. You can pause and continue later if you need a break.
Do we need to book a time or pay to play?
No. It is free to play, and there is no group to join and no guide to meet. Open the app at Jingshan Park South Gate whenever suits you and begin. Friends or couples can walk and solve the puzzles together at their own pace.
Is it suitable for children?
The puzzles are rated medium difficulty and the walk covers 4.3 km over about two and a half hours, so it works best for older children and teens who enjoy history and problem solving. Younger children may find the length and the puzzles hard going.
