Een paar antwoorden voor vertrek
Veelgestelde vragen
Is there a detective puzzle game I can play in Budapest?
Yes. This self-guided mystery walk casts you as a supernatural detective in the city centre. Your phone leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each monument and sets an easy puzzle in what is in front of you. Start whenever you like, and one ticket covers your whole group.
Does the route go past the Hungarian Parliament?
Yes. The Parliament Building is one of the stops, along with St Stephen Basilica, the Dohány Street Synagogue, the Queen Elisabeth Statue, the yellow palace on Deák Ferenc tér and the bronze bullets on the wall of the Agricultural Ministry. You also search for several of the city's small mini statues.
Does the walk include Freedom Square (Szabadság tér)?
It does. Stops in and around Liberty Square include the Soviet Heroes Memorial, the memorial to the Victims of German Occupation with the Living Monument, and a mini statue in the square itself. These memorials deal with hard chapters of Hungarian history, which the app explains as you go.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The walk starts and finishes at the Statue of Andrássy, so you end where you began. It covers 2.9 km and takes around 80 minutes at an easy pace. There is no time slot to book, and you can pause and carry on later. Bring a charged phone or a power bank.
Is it good for kids?
It is tagged as a family favourite and the puzzles are rated easy, which suits school-age children. Hunting for the mini statues and the policeman with a great belly gives them something to look for. Some stops are memorials to wartime victims, so younger children may need a little context.
