À propos Caesars Atlantic City
Caesars Atlantic City is a Roman-themed casino resort on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It opened in the late 1970s, in the first wave of casinos after the state allowed gambling in the city, and it is still one of the best-known names on the seafront.
The story behind it
Atlantic City was already a seaside resort long before the casinos. Its Boardwalk dates to the 1870s, and visitors came for the beach, the piers and the hotels. In 1976 New Jersey voters approved casino gambling in the city, and a new generation of resorts followed, aiming to bring visitors back.
Caesars arrived in that period and borrowed the classical look of the Caesars brand, with Roman names and ancient-world styling. The property has changed and grown over the years, but the Roman theme remains its signature. It sits on Pacific Avenue, a name many people know from the Monopoly board, which was inspired by Atlantic City street names.
What to look for
- Notice the Roman-inspired styling in the entrances and public spaces, with columns, statues and classical motifs that set the resort apart from its neighbours.
- Look at how the building meets the Boardwalk, where the resort faces the ocean and the pedestrian crowds.
- Walk along the nearby stretch of the Boardwalk and watch how the old resort-town layout of piers, hotels and shopfronts still shapes the seafront.
- Check the street signs around the resort, because Pacific Avenue and other local names will be familiar to anyone who has played Monopoly.
Tips for your visit
- Allow 30 to 60 minutes if you want to look around the public areas and take photos, longer if you plan to eat or see a show.
- Go in the late afternoon or around sunset to see the Boardwalk at its liveliest and enjoy the light off the ocean.
- You must be 21 or older to use the casino floor, so check current rules if you are travelling with younger people.
- The Boardwalk is right outside, so pair your visit with a stroll along the seafront, and check current opening hours for any venue you want to enter.
