Is this a mafia tour of Naples?
It is a self-guided walking quest played on your phone rather than a guided tour. The app leads you through central Naples, tells the story of each place and sets puzzles, while you play an undercover agent trying to capture the boss of the Pendino clan, Antonio "Leone".
What is the Neapolitan mafia called, and how does it feature in the story?
The Neapolitan mafia is the Camorra. In this quest you infiltrate one of its clans, the Pendino clan, and follow its trail through the Mercato and Pendino area, from Piazza Mercato to Porta Nolana, piecing together clues to bring its ruthless boss to justice.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts and ends at the Arco di Sant'Eligio, so it is a loop. Along the way you visit Piazza Mercato, the Fontana di Spina Corona, the Jorit San Gennaro mural, Porta Nolana and the Basilica of the Carmine Maggiore before returning to the arch.
How long does it take, and do we need to book a time?
Plan on around 90 minutes to cover about 3 km on foot. There is no set time slot: start whenever you like, pause when you need a coffee or a pizza stop, and continue later. One ticket covers your whole group, with no guide to wait for.
Can we play it in the evening?
We recommend not playing at night. The route runs through the Mercato and Pendino streets of central Naples and is entirely outdoors, so it works best in daylight, when you can see the details the puzzles rely on.
