Preguntas frecuentes
Which period of Budapest's history does this walk cover?
It focuses on the late 1800s and early 1900s, the city's golden age of rapid change. Stops include the Vigadó Concert Hall, Thonet House, the Hungarian National Museum and the Ignác Semmelweis statue, plus a look at the nightlife of the era at the Royal Orfeum and a former brothel.
Where does the quest start and how long is it?
It starts and ends at the Royal Orfeum (Madách theatre), so you finish where you began. The loop is 4.6 km with 14 stops, including Café Gerbeaud, Károlyi Garden, Rákóczi Market Hall and New York Café. Allow about three hours, more if you stop for coffee and cake.
Is there a best day or time to do it?
Avoid Sunday if you want to see inside Rákóczi Market Hall, as it is closed that day. Playing at night is not recommended, so go in daylight. Charge your phone fully or bring a power bank, since the walk runs for around three hours.
Do we need to book a time slot or buy entry tickets?
No. You start whenever you like, with no guide or group to meet, and no attraction tickets are needed for any stop. One ticket covers your whole group, and you can pause the quest, take a café break and continue later from where you stopped.
