Groups of friends, couples and families with teens who like escape rooms can play outdoors in Green Bay, outwitting the witch in a story based on Baum's 1900 Oz novel. Over 1.5 to 2 hours you solve puzzles at eleven stops, from the Brown County Courthouse past the Meyer Theatre and back. Anyone wanting an indoor room with a host, or unable to walk 2 km, should look elsewhere.

Is this an escape room in Green Bay?
It is an escape-room-style game played outdoors on your phone in Green Bay. Instead of a locked room, the app leads you between real places in town, tells the Oz-inspired story at each one and sets puzzles in what is in front of you. You start whenever you like, with no booking slot.
How does an outdoor escape room work?
You follow clues in the app to find each new location, then crack puzzles there to outsmart the witch and move the story on. There is no guide and no group to join. Play with friends or tackle it solo against the leaderboard, and pause to continue later if you need a break.
Where does the route start and finish?
It is a loop of about 2 km that starts and ends at the Brown County Courthouse on S Jefferson St. Along the way you pass stops such as Bug Tussel on Pine St, Glas Coffeehouse, the Green Bay Packers Heritage Trail Plaza, the Meyer Theatre and St. Willebrord Catholic Church.
How long does it take?
Most players take around 95 minutes, so plan on 1.5 to 2 hours including walking and puzzle solving. You can pause the game and pick it up again later, so there is no need to finish in one go.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, it is designed for teams, and one ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no fixed time slot to book, so you can start whenever suits you. Solo players can also take it on alone and compare their result on the leaderboard.
