It is an outdoor escape-room-style game played on your phone in downtown El Paso. Instead of a locked room, you follow clues to each new location and solve puzzles in the real world to outsmart the witch, in a new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's 1900 Oz novel.
How long does the game take compared with a usual escape room?
Plan on around 90 minutes to walk about 2.4 km and solve the puzzles along the way. There is no countdown slot to beat: you can pause and continue later, and the route loops back to where you started near San Jacinto Plaza.
Where does it start?
The game starts near the entrance to San Jacinto Plaza at W Mills Ave and N Mesa St. From there it leads you past places such as the Firefighter Memorial Statue, the Scottish Temple and the University Park Clock Tower before finishing back at the start.
Do we need to book a time, and can our group play together?
No time slot is needed, so you can start whenever suits you. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends, families or work groups can work through the puzzles as a team.
Can I play on my own?
Yes. You can tackle the witch's challenges solo and see how you compare on the leaderboard. The game also includes original Oz-themed songs created for it, which stay available in the app to listen to on demand once you get home.
