You are Knifepaw, the fiercest feline prowler in the city, and your turf has just been breached by an audacious rat on the run. As the sun sets over the gardens and cobblestone streets, your hunt begins. With help from a few furry friends—each with their own secrets—you’ll follow real-world clues, solve puzzles, and uncover the rodent’s trail through Chicago’s most charming corners.
This walking quest is a fun and clever outdoor adventure for friends, families, and animal lovers alike. Lace up your paws—it’s time to defend your domain!

Cat lovers, friends and families get to play Knifepaw, a tough city cat tracking a runaway rat through the alleys and side streets of Lincoln Park and Old Town, past Oz Park, the Second City Theatre and the back alley of Alinea. The loop takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and ends where it starts. Anyone hoping to visit Lincoln Park Zoo, or unable to manage a 4.8 km outdoor walk, should pick something else.

Does the rat hunt go through Oz Park?
Yes. Oz Park is one of the stops near the end of the route, after places like the Fire Cottage, St Michael Catholic Church and the Domain of Henry Darger. From there the trail continues to the Ann Halsted House and back to the start.
Is there a cat-themed walking tour in Chicago?
This quest casts you as Knifepaw, a feline prowler chasing a rat across Lincoln Park and Old Town with help from a few furry friends. There is no live guide: your phone leads you between stops, tells the story of each place and sets puzzles in what you see around you.
Is this a Lincoln Park Zoo scavenger hunt?
No. The route stays on the neighborhood streets and alleys of Lincoln Park and Old Town, with stops such as Wooden Alley, the Midwest Buddhist Temple and Oz Park. The zoo is not one of the stops, and no attraction tickets are needed anywhere on the walk.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
It starts and finishes at the Former Reebie Storage Warehouse, so you end up back where you began. The loop covers 4.8 km and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours on foot. You can pause along the way and pick up the hunt again later.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book: start whenever suits you. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends or a family can play together. The whole quest is outdoors, so dress for the weather on the day.
