It is the imagined experiences of a young man who was in the center of Bucharest's at the time of the 1977 earthquake. He witnessed the horrific destruction all around him and decided to get involved in the rescue operations to help pull out people trapped under the rubble.

Although the story is full of dramatic moments, in the end it conveys a message of hope in human power to cope with difficult situations.

The game was developed in collaboration with researchers from the National Institute for Earth Physics, involved in the development of the guided tour "Bucharest and Earthquakes".

Romanian speakers drawn to the 4 March 1977 earthquake will follow an imagined young rescuer through central Bucharest, over about 90 minutes and 4.1 km, from the University fountain past the Ateneu and Palatul Telefoanelor. It suits families who lived through it, students and anyone who follows seismic risk. If you do not read Romanian or want a light stroll rather than rescue scenes under rubble, pick another walk.

Yes. This walk tells the imagined experiences of a young man in central Bucharest during the 1977 earthquake who joins the rescue operations. It was developed in collaboration with researchers from the National Institute for Earth Physics and covers about 4.1 km in around 90 minutes.
How dark is the story, and how does it end?
The story follows a witness to horrific destruction who helps pull people trapped under the rubble, so it has many dramatic moments. In the end it carries a message of hope in people's ability to cope with difficult situations, which makes it a thoughtful rather than a light outing.
Is the quest available in English?
No. The quest is available only in Romanian, so the story and the puzzles are all in Romanian. At least one person in your group should read the language comfortably to follow the clues and the narrative along the route.
Where does it start and what does the route cover?
It starts and finishes at Fântâna de la Universitate. Along the way you pass stops such as the Ateneu, Cărturești, Palatul Suțu, Palatul Telefoanelor, Biserica Boteanu, Scala and Wilson. The loop is about 4.1 km and takes around 90 minutes, all outdoors on city streets.

No booking slot is needed. You start whenever you like on your phone, with no guide or group to meet, and you can pause and continue later. Note that some checkpoints may have temporary construction work around them.
